hey everbody please calm down...

scarf is an optional thing in our culture, those who like it wear it,

I would like to mention Scarf is not made by arabs, Kurds who live in cold monuntains had had to wear that ...because it was too cold in winter...
and also our ancestors who used to live in the north of caspian sea, had to wear that too , and that has been a part of our tradtional clothes from thousands years ago ...

so it is a cultural tradtional thing.

it is a part of our culture and I dont hate it , as long as it be Optional not nessescary . in most cities of kurdistan ppl are more open and never "force" women to cover their hair...but there are some places where men force women to cover their hair by "Brutal Force"

I hate it if men try to Force women to cover themself...
it is a very bad attitue and I am against that , it is very stupid that men tell women "hey women you have to cover yourself because your hair makes us HOT and makes us think about Passion and Blue..."

I think if men has the right to say that , then women should have the same right to say "hey men you have to cover your this and that ...because ..."

by the way I like some of the kurdish scarfs that are decorated with Golden Coins...they are really cute... and also I like those women who willingly cover their hair and feel proud of that....like Sherbian the Kurdish singer.

Chichalok... It is culture... There is not ONE PLACE in the Holy Quran, which says "women must cover their hair"... Show me which sura you are talking about - there is by the way only one - and that one says that women should cover their breasts with their scarf... Or something like that...

Show me where it says that women MUST wear a veil...

actualy quran has "RECOMENDED" that women should cover their hair , but there are many interperts...some say it is not Nessecary...some say it is !

whatever even if it be a relligious thing , it doenst mean , it is not a cultual matter....

it is a cultural matter ! it has roots in our ancient culture .

the Al-Noor Sorah (noor means light) the 31th Ayat

[24.31] And say to the believing women that they cast down their looks and guard their private parts and do not display their ornaments except what appears thereof, and let them wear their head-coverings over their bosoms, and not display their ornaments except to their husbands or their fathers, or the fathers of their husbands, or their sons, or the sons of their husbands, or their brothers, or their brothers' sons, or their sisters' sons, or their women, or those whom their right hands possess, or the male servants not having need (of women), or the children who have not attained knowledge of what is hidden of women; and let them not strike their feet so that what they hide of their ornaments may be known; and turn to Allah all of you, O believers! so that you may be successful.

That is an incorrect and misleading translation you have posted, kak Dyaoko. The correct translation is for women to "cover their bosoms,", which does not imply that their hair must be covered. There is no Arabic word that can be translated to "head-covering" in the passage that you have posted.

"Khimar" is the word found in Quran-24:31. "Khimar" means, any type of cover and is NOT specific to head-covering. "Khimar" can even mean a dress, table cloth or curtain. "Khimar" is any object, which is used to cover. The passage you have cited simply says women should cover their breats, and does NOT say to cover their heads.

Please read the following and much more accurate translation:

(In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful...)

[24:31] And tell the believing women to subdue their eyes, and maintain their chastity. They shall not reveal any parts of their bodies, except that which is necessary. They shall cover their chests, and shall not relax this code in the presence of other than their husbands, their fathers, the fathers of their husbands, their sons, the sons of their husbands, their brothers, the sons of their brothers, the sons of their sisters, other women, the male servants or employees whose sexual drive has been nullified, or the children who have not reached puberty. They shall not strike their feet when they walk in order to shake and reveal certain details of their bodies. All of you shall repent to GOD, O you believers, that you may succeed.

The Qur’anic verse, “Say to believing women, that they cast down their eyes and guard their private parts, and reveal not their adornment save such as is outward; and let them drape their headcoverings over their bosoms, and not reveal their adornment . . .” (Qur’an 24:31)

The English word for "Khimar" is NOT headcoverings, so therefore, your English translation of the Quran is incorrect.

Like I said before: "Khimar" is the word found in Quran-24:31 that your source is translating to head-covering. However, "Khimar" does not mean head-covering. "Khimar" means, any type of cover and is NOT specific to head-covering. "Khimar" can even mean a dress, table cloth or curtain. "Khimar" is any object, which is used to cover. The passage you have cited simply says women should cover their breasts, and does NOT say to cover their heads.

There is no reference to covering your hair or your head in this verse of the Quran.

In other words... There is no reference to covering your hair or your head in this verse of the Quran.

And "Khimar" can then be that God wants women to wear CLOTHES/Khimar which cover their BOSOMS too...

Because, "Khimar" does NOT mean head-coverings. "Khimar" is the Arabic word for something used to cover. And in this passage, it says to cover the bosoms, NOT THE HAIR.

The translation you have posted says "headcovering" is the word for "Khimar" because it has been translated incorrectly. The person who translated that Quranic passage did not translate "Khimar" correctly to English.
