Turkish elections are coming up

PostAuthor: thearabchildren » Fri May 13, 2011 2:40 pm

First off, the AKP is going to lose seats. Kerdoğan's populism might endear him to the rural uneducated still, but the so-called "moderate" Kurds are getting impatient, and many of them are gonna switch over to the CHP or BDP (depending on how "moderate" they are, how I hate that word, but how unfortunately appropriate). Plus the AKP risks losing votes to HEPAR and the MHP from right-leaning Turks. Kerdoğan may have money, but a lot of people have grown tired of his posturing. But his opponents are also quite divided: A lot of old-guard CHP might move over to HEPAR too, out of dissatisfaction with the new Kurdish-friendly face (and it is only the face, make no mistake, the CHP is still a racist and fascist party which I hate more than any other in Turkey), so there's no guarantee that a loss of seats for the AKP would mean a CHP-led government (not that it matters, I detest the CHP). The BDP will continue to receive all its seats from the Southeast, thus further emphasising the limits of bourgeois democracy, but the PKK will similarly fail to do anything more than maintain the pressure on Ankara to remember that the Kurdish people exist (even if they dare not speak its name), and at a terrible cost. The war will create more şehitler and şehîdan yet. There will be no justice, and there will be no peace, because the non-Kurds in Turkey have still not grasped the importance of standing up for the rights of the Kurdish people, and the Kurds alone are not strong enough to seize freedom (by any definition) with their own hands. It is a great tragedy, and this election will serve only to emphasise the pathetic divisions that allow the Kemalist government to continue its exploitation and murder.

I mean that because he is apparently unable to read what I write, he misunderstands me completely. This on its own would not be so bad, but as accurate political analysis is key to a revolutionary strategy, this means he likely over- or under-estimates some or all of his enemies, which (as a collective instinct) is one of the things holding the Kurdish people (and most peoples) back from their liberation.

Do you see what I mean? Be honest Kulka, you and I disagree on a lot, but can you produce one quote of mine which defends the Turkish government or the American one? And you probably disagree with me more than anyone else on this forum, which leads me to the conclusion that KurdishAryanSoccer either does not or cannot read what I write.

I hope so too. It is a shame that there is so much misunderstanding in the world, because I think fundamentally most people don't want to hurt others, but simply don't understand how they are doing so.The Turks in Turkey are a great example. Most of them just have never been seriously asked to see things from the Kurdish perspective, because their filthy government and the media (which generally acts as propaganda for the government) never explain what is wrong with the Kemalist narrative, and many Turkish Kurds who want to explain this to them are not given a chance to do so. Thus: Anger and violence. If Kurds were given a chance to solve their problems peacefully, they would not need to use violence, but the system offers them pretty much no choice.

HEPAR are Nazi fucks and that's a fact, but their popularity is really sudden, wouldn't you agree? And wouldn't you also agree that they're drawing their votes from the more extreme anti-Kurdish elements within such other anti-Kurdish parties as the MHP, AKP, and CHP (which is anti-Kurdish until they prove otherwise, which they haven't and I don't believe they will)?

alan invited me to another forum, which I've since left (too many Americans and such) and on it there are a few Turks (including one alan is on good terms with, who seems pretty reasonable and about whom I'd like to know more). One of the Turks is a HEPAR supporter and the hate he spews against Kurds is so offensive. It is worse than the worst anti-Turkish or anti-Arab rhetoric from the angriest Kurd I've ever met. His views are so disgusting I don't dare repeat them. And I can't imagine that a man like Orhan Pamukoğlu (whose supporters are more racist than the MHP or the CHP) will give but more suffering to the Kurds if he's given any kind of power, including in coalition.

But Kılıçdaroğlu scares me more. He scares me because he's always emphasising what an "Alevi Kurd" he is, even though he seems to have a lot of respect for the military establishment which has such an awful track record with the Kurds. And then at the same time the right keep accusing him of being TOO pro-Kurdish (I'd love to hear one pro-Kurdish quote of his, I haven't heard one yet, just more praise for the CHP's fine history of lies and oppression). Then if he gains power, this will only fuel more racism against Kurds, because people will say "See, even their own kind can't get them to cooperate, it must be because they're such barbarians!" (The mainstream Turkish media still dares not suggest that the fundamental problem is Kemalism, and that the Kurds are just victims of this sick ideology).

My whole point was, there's still no place in Turkish bourgeois "democracy" for the Kurds, except the BDP, which sadly exists only so it can be attacked by the entire rest of the country. Still no place for those who are unafraid to speak out:
