ERBIL-Hewlêr, Kurdistan region 'Iraq',— A car bomb exploded in the center of the Iraqi Kurdistan capital Erbil Wednesday, killing several people, local television reported.

An explosion took place in front of the Erbil Governorate building. According to security sources, the bombing was the result of a car bomb which exploded in front of the governorate building.

Footage from the scene showed several charred vehicles and what appeared to be a blood stain on the cobbles outside the governor's office.

A witness at the scene said two police and two civilians had been killed.

ISIS militants who overran swathes of northern Iraq this summer have repeatedly threatened to launch attacks against Kurdistan, but the region has so far largely managed to insulate itself from the violence.


The last major attack in Erbil was more than one year ago, when militants launched a coordinated suicide andwww.Ekurd.net car bomb attack on the headquarters of the security services. Another blast took place in August, but there were no casualties.

I read that the woman of the suicide car was a woman.If that's true, Daesh know that single Arab men were not allowed easily to enter in Kurdistan, so now they use female terrorist. The next time they will send children.

Their is already a great deal of ethnic tension in the capital with the young Kurds saying that the Arabs should be thrown out

Kurds are far too kind for their own good - they allowed too many Arabs to take refuge in Kurdistan and this is the reward they are receiving
